Job Purpose:
The Communication Specialist is responsible for strengthening Educo Philippines’ brand visibility, public image, and strategic communication in support of its mission to advance child rights and wellbeing. The role ensures cohesive and creative communication across programs, advocacy, and donor engagement, positioning Educo as a credible and trusted voice in education, protection, and humanitarian action.
As Educo’s brand custodian, the Specialist leads the Creatives Team in producing compelling narratives, visuals, and campaigns that communicate Educo’s impact. The role also provides strategic direction in Behavior Change Communication (BCC), manages communication suppliers and consultants, and supports project and partner teams in implementing consistent, high-quality communication activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Strategic Communication and Brand Management
Lead the development and implementation of Educo Philippines’ Communication and Branding Strategy, ensuring alignment with the Country Program Framework (CPF) and global brand standards. Strengthen Educo’s visibility through consistent messaging, storytelling, and visual identity across all platforms and materials.
B. Marketing and Donor Engagement
Design and implement marketing, visibility, and donor engagement initiatives that showcase Educo’s achievements and advocacy impact. Develop creative communication packages, success stories, donor reports, and campaigns that enhance Educo’s profile and contribute to resource mobilization.
C. Behavior Change Communication (BCC) and IEC Strategy
Lead the formulation of Educo’s Behavior Change Communication (BCC) framework to support programmatic objectives. Guide the development and production of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials, ensuring they are evidence-based, child-friendly, and aligned with Educo’s and donor branding guidelines.
D. Creative Direction and Team Guidance
Provide overall guidance and creative direction to Educo’s Creatives Team, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery of designs, videos, publications, and visual materials. Mentor and support team members in developing innovative and child-centered communication products that enhance Educo’s identity and advocacy messages.
E. Communication Support to Programs and Events
Work closely with Project Coordinators (PCs) and Program teams to meet their communication, visibility, and event management needs. Provide technical guidance on messaging, branding, and event execution to ensure alignment with Educo’s communication strategy and safeguarding standards.
F. Partner and LPO Communication Alignment
Support and mentor Local Partner Organizations (LPOs) in developing communication and visibility plans. Ensure LPOs and partners adhere to Educo’s and donor branding requirements, including proper logo use, acknowledgment, and ethical storytelling practices in all materials and activities.
G. Media, Supplier, and Consultant Management
Build and maintain relationships with media partners, influencers, and communication networks to expand Educo’s reach. Manage the procurement, contracting, and oversight of communication suppliers and consultants—such as design studios, media producers, and PR firms—ensuring all outputs meet Educo’s brand, quality, and safeguarding standards.
H. Innovation, Learning, and Ethical Safeguarding
Champion innovation and ethical communication, ensuring dignity, safety, and informed consent in all public materials. Lead capacity-building initiatives, internal learning sessions, and creative exchanges that strengthen communication practices across Educo and partner organizations.
Experience and Qualifications:
– Minimum of 7 years of experience in communications, branding, or marketing within INGOs, advocacy, or CSR sectors
– Proven track record in strategic communication, creative direction, and content production for development or humanitarian programs
– Demonstrated experience leading Behavior Change Communication (BCC) initiatives and IEC development
– Experience in supervising creative teams and managing suppliers, consultants, and event partners
– Strong experience supporting project communication needs and partner visibility planning
– Familiarity with child rights, education, protection, and humanitarian advocacy is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies
– Solid understanding of digital marketing metrics and audience engagement analytics
– Excellent writing, storytelling, and multimedia production skills (design, video, photography)
– Proficiency in communication and design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, CapCut, or equivalent)
– Strong project management, team coordination, and supplier oversight skills
– Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills, with the ability to support diverse teams and partners
