Educo Philippines participated in the High-Level Round Table Discussion on Madaris for Peace and Resilience, bringing together Madaris leaders, peace advocates, development partners, and government representatives to strengthen the role of Islamic education in promoting peace, resilience, and inclusive development.
Organized by Ecosystems Work for Essential Benefits (EcoWEB) and the Sulu-NCR Association of Communities Foundation (SNACF), the event highlighted the contributions of Madaris as culturally rooted learning spaces that nurture interfaith understanding, child protection, youth leadership, and community cohesion, particularly in conflict-affected areas of the Bangsamoro and other parts of Mindanao.
Educo Philippines’ attendance comes at a strategic time as the organization expands its presence in Mindanao, with a strong focus on its flagship programs in Sponsorship and Education. The round table provided valuable insights into the unique needs of Madaris communities, ensuring that Educo’s upcoming initiatives remain inclusive, culturally respectful, and aligned with local aspirations for peace and learning.
Throughout the event, participants shared experiences from the field, presented the Madrasah Journey and the MPR Phase II roadmap, and engaged in conversations on how education systems can help address protection risks, reduce vulnerabilities, and build resilience among children and youth.
Educo Philippines reaffirms its commitment to working alongside local governments, civil society organizations, and Madaris educators to ensure that children in Mindanao, especially those in underserved and culturally diverse communities, have access to quality education, safe learning environments, and opportunities to thrive.
For Educo, investing in Madaris means investing in peace and in the future of every child.
